Carbendazim provides systemic activity, allowing the fungicide to act within plant tissues, while Mancozeb provides contact/protective activity on plant surfaces. The combination therefore offers two complementary modes of protection against fungal diseases.
Target Diseases & Crops
According to UPL's label information, Saaf is recommended for diseases including:
- Groundnut: Leaf spot and rust
- Paddy: Blast
- Potato: Early blight, late blight and black scurf
- Tea: Blister blight, grey blight, red rust, die-back and black rot
- Grapes: Downy mildew and anthracnose
- Mango: Powdery mildew and anthracnose
Some agricultural retailers also list Saaf for additional crops such as chilli and other vegetables, but the product label for the particular pack should be followed for legally approved crop/disease uses and dosage.

Application & Dosage
The exact dose varies according to crop and disease. For example, UPL's label gives different application rates for groundnut, paddy, potato, tea, grapes and mango. Therefore, the dosage should not be generalized across crops. Always follow the dosage printed on the current product label/leaflet.
